At StudioRav we have worked with literally hundreds of businesses across the UK and beyond.
We get many enquiries from people who ask where we are based and how they want to work with someone local.
We thought it would be a good opportunity to talk about the pros and cons of this approach and explain why we think it really doesn’t matter.
Why work with a local webdesigner
The main benefit of working with someone local is that you can meet them face to face whenever you need to.
Over the years we’ve spoken to so many people who want to work with someone nearby, and this is always the reason why.
We get the idea, you want someone who will come to visit you and sit with you and maybe even do some work infront of you.
You can watch them work, and see what they do and give instant feedback, thereby improving communication.
Also, working with someone who you can physically meet helps to build trust and improve rapport.
Finally, a local person is also more likely to have similar interests, background and way of working as you (maybe).
So it sort of makes sense why people want someone local.
Why you don’t need a local webdesigner
Ultimately you are paying them for a service – and that service does not require them to operate at your premises or face to face.
The main deliverable is the work done on your project, and that can be done from anywhere [in the world].
Now obviously working with a developer in your own country means they work in your timezone, and maybe there are less issues with communication.
However, their physical location does not really indicate the quality of their overall work.
Based on this, we know that we can work with clients from anywhere in the world and especially in the UK.
So whether you are looking for WordPress maintenance in Birmingham or Shopify store setup in Manchester you can rely on StudioRav.
Another important factor is that you want to outsource your dev work to us – you don’t need us to rely on your office or space.
Working independently means we can operate regardless of what is going on at your own business.
Whether you are on holiday or otherwise unavailable, as a third party service provider there is no disruption to your services.
Why work with a developer in the UK
It begs the question why not work with someone from Fiverr who will be cheaper and based in India or somewhere else.
A few important things:
- They may not fully understand UK law or digital implications of things like GDPR
- These days they are not always cheaper than UK providers
- The timezone difference can often be an issue
- Communication is sometimes not so smooth/language problems
- Security may be compromised by sharing sensitive data and passwords across borders
We are a big fan of remote working and if someone is good at what they do we believe it should not matter where they live.
However, in our experience it can help choosing a developer based in the UK.
This is why we believe if you are a a business and you want to find a reliable and trustworthy webdesigner you should contact StudioRav and see how we can support you today.
