The use of AI and LLM models is shaking up industries as more and more users turn to tools such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini to help with research, data compilation, and much more.
Over the last 6 months we’ve definitely seen a shift in how SMEs are way more eager to use AI generated content and data for their business websites.
According to the ONS, [AI] technology adopters were associated with 19% higher turnover per worker, after controlling for management practice scores and firm characteristics.
In other words using AI tools helps you and your staff be more efficient, save time on laborious tasks and work better.
Isn’t this what the IT industry has been promising for decades?
The case for using AI
Ultimately, in business everything is about money.
As business owners and managers we all want to reduce costs and increase profits.
The real promise of AI is how it helps us use natural language (written or spoken) to ask a question and get answers or output in seconds.
Things that would take your admin staff hours to do, or half a day, can be returned immediately.
This is a game changer.
You no longer have to pay for an expensive human, just get a computer to do it for you fast.
As well as finding info, AI is wowing everyone with its hyper-realistic images, sound, and video.
Things that are impossible to do in real life suddenly become possible online within minutes.
When not to use AI
AI tools these days are like interns.
They are fast, however they can make mistakes, and they are predisposed to give you answers you will like.
In other words they don’t really think critically and LLMs are really just like super-powerful autocomplete.
So if you have very important questions and data, you absolutely need to double-check results from AI.
Another important point is these systems are designed to get your data.
If you have a sensitive or confidential project then maybe discussing it with your favourite AI bot is not the best idea.
Finally, it’s just a tool at the end of the day and you shouldn’t expect it to handle all of your business decisions without question.
How you should be using it for your business
If we’re not being super picky and we just talk about saving time and money here is how many business owners are using AI these days:
- Generating logos quickly and cheaply
- Writing content for their pages and products
- Creating blog posts
- Making social media posts and captions
- Writing and replying to emails automatically
- Generating images or videos for their website or ads
- Researching industries and lists for use in sales or marketing
- Coming up with loads of ideas for social media posts or email marketing
- How to or step by step guides on doing things
- Asking financial, legal, or business related questions
As you can see it’s such a versatile tool that you can ask it virtually anything.
This is unprecedented and it means you get answers quickly rather than rely on a human who will take their time.
AI tools you can use today
If you want to start benefitting from AI the following tools could help you:
ChatGPT – obviously very popular and really good. Simply type or talk, or even upload an image and ask something. You will get a response in seconds and with ChatGPT agent mode you can connect to other software apps and do a lot more.
Freepik – if you need to generate a custom image or video then we found Freepik AI capabilities to be very strong. Lots of filters to customise your graphics and super easy to use.
Cursor – if coding is your thing then making use of LLMs to help with your codebase is absolutely essential these days as it’s such a big timesaver and can help you when you’re stuck.
Chatbase – we found this tool really impressive in generating a cool AI powered chatbot which is trained on your website data. Also with a good free option to get you started.
Zapier – already a very flexible tool but with AI features you can create a workflow or Zap very quickly and by barely having to think about each step at all.
Why you still need to work with us
We recently wrote about why you will love to work with us and even with AI added in the mix it’s all true.
AI is great, but it can’t replace human interaction and working with professionals.
AI also can’t do things like migrate your Woocommerce website to Shopify.
If AI is like having an intern helping you on tasks, StudioRav is like having your own dedicated IT and web team on board.
We pride ourselves on:
- Building long term relations with our clients
- Doing things we care about – not just the money
- Creating a positive working environment where we all grow
Top tips on using AI for your website
If you haven’t started using it already, we recommend you dip your toe in and start using AI.
However, a few quick tips:
- It can sometimes go down an unintended rabbit hole so if you don’t like the answer tell it so and revert back.
- Give it as much context as you can, and some rules to help it generate a relevant answer.
- Treat it like an intern who can do things fast – but remember it can still get things wrong!
- Check for Americanizations
We hope this short guide gave you something to think about and if you want to build on this more then get in touch and let’s see how we can help you more.
